. . . . . . . . News & Notices . . . . . . . .

We start trialing morning worship services in June.  To remind you, this was a suggestion received at our Annual Congregational Meeting last year.  Practically, this means that from June to October we will hold one morning worship service each month.  Therefore, the morning service will replace the evening service on Sunday 28 June, Sunday 26 July, Sunday 30 August, Sunday 20 September and Sunday 25 October.  All other Sundays in each month continue to have an evening service at 6.00pm, as noted above.

We will be holding our annual Pride service this year on Sunday 19 July.  Some very exciting news is that at the same service we will be also be hosting MCC Region 4 for a service of celebration for our Elder, Rev Glenna Shepherd!  As most of you now know, we are losing Glenna as our Elder due to financial retrenchment by the denomination.  This will mean that her tenure as our Elder concludes at the end of July.  She will be staying in the UK at least until the end of the year however, and we will, of course, be looking forward to seeing her over our 20th anniversary weekend in September.  But this service in July will give MCC churches from within our region a chance to celebrate her time with us and to formally say goodbye and wish her well.  Further news about the day will be forthcoming once more is known.

We are booked and ready for our Away Day at Ammerdown Retreat Centre near Radstock on Saturday 13 June from 10.00am until 4.00pm.  The workshop times will be facilitated by Rev Janice Bowker as we look at an introduction to healing.  The day will start and finish with worship and there will be plenty of time for the seventeen people booked to enjoy the peace and beauty of the grounds and enjoy social time together.

Our annual stewardship campaign closes at the end of May.  If you still have forms to return could you do so as quickly as possible as your responses are needed to assist with the setting of our 2009/2010 budget.  Please return them to Kieren or place them in the offertory basket during worship.  Should you wish to contribute but weren’t initially sent a form please ask Kieren for one.  Thank you very much indeed to all of you who have responded to our annual campaign with such care, faithfulness and continued generosity – especially in these more straitened times.

Initial planning is underway for Living Spring’s 20th anniversary celebrations over 26 & 27 September.  Please mark this weekend in your diary now – it’s going to be a great time of fun and fellowship!  On the Saturday – late afternoon – we will enjoy some social time together on a boat trip up the River Avon followed by a meal at Garfunkels in Bath.  Events on the Sunday are still to be worked out, but we know for sure that the weekend’s events will culminate in a service of celebration at 6.00pm.  Watch this space for more information concerning times, events and guests!

And you may find it useful to note upcoming dates in your diary for other special services and events over the rest of the year:

Harvest Thanksgiving – Sunday 4 October; Annual Congregational Meeting – Sunday 18 October; Remembrance Sunday – 8 November; World Aids Day Service – Sunday 29 November; Lessons & Carols – Sunday 20 December.

The income for February was £954.90 and the expenditure was £852.05.  In March the income was £816.59 and the expenditure was £748.03.  As a result of those who are able to Gift Aid, in April we received £2176.96 from Revenue & Customs leaving us at the end of that month with a healthier balance of £6089.02.  Our recent Community Tithes in April raised £71.88 for the MCC Easter Offering and in May raised £36.40 for the Kenyan Orphan Project.  Our monthly tithes to Fellowship included payments of £113.36 in February and £95.79 in March.
